Scientist and human rights defender Prof. Dr. Baskın Oran has been threatened by persons using the name of TİT (Turkish Revenge Brigade).<\/p>\n

“TİT” was also a signature used by those persons who tried to kill Akın Birdal, former president of Human Rights Association, on 12 May 1998.<\/p>\n

In fact, Hrant Dink is being reminded us through threatening Baskın Oran. It is being declared that all of us, including Baskın Oran, are in the list as they killed Hrant Dink.<\/div>\n

The question is about the protection of Human rights and Human rights defenders.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
In this perspective;
The government and all of the public security bodies must guarantee the right to life of Baskın Oran. The sources of the threats should be revealed.
The principle of rule of law can only be implemented through fast, result oriented, and just processes, methods, and mechanisms. Only under those circumstances we can speak of effective domestic legal systems.<\/div>\n

As human rights defenders, we want to see these guarantees. <\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
We demand the government and other state authorities not to avoid their intervention against such developments.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
We perceive the threat against Baskın Oran as a threat against ourselves, the communities in Turkey, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law; and we protest it!<\/div>\n
