The Freedom of Thought campaign, launched by Human Rights Joint Platform which is established by Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly, Human Rights Association, MAZLUMDER, and Amnesty International Turkey on 30 November 2006, continues.
More than signatures of 19000 citizens have been collected through the campaign for abolishing all the legal barriers on freedom of thought starting with article 301 of Turkish Penal Code. This demand of 19000 citizens has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey by open letters published in newspapers.
Human Rights Joint Platform will submit the draft bill proposal on article 301, which is prepared in collaboration with the Peace Initiative, and the collected signatures to Bülent Arınç, the President of Grand National Assembly of Turkey next week.
